I'm Obsessed

With this movie right now. It's blowing my mind with cuteness. A giant singing monster who falls in love with a precious little cabaret singer in early 1900's France? Ooh yes, gimme!

I have quite a list of new exciting projects coming up, but I needed a break from my workload, so I did a little illustration of the two main characters: Lucille and Francoeur. This time I did manage to save a few of the process sketches:

  1. It's interesting to see your process! How did you develop your style? Was it something you created or something that came naturally?

  5. Thanks :)

Rosemont, I developed my style by first studying my favorite illustrators (Arthur Rackham, Toulouse Lautrec, Alphonse Mucha, Maurice Sendak, Edward Gorey, and Dr. Seuss, just to name a few) and after spending years in college drawing only from life, I started to develop my style then. It's changed a lot over the years, but it's finally in a place where I am happy with it :)

As to the movie, I believe the English version will be released between January and February depending on where you are, and there is an English trailer out already if you search for it on YouTube :) Looks adorable!
